119 - beth: Your word hidden in my heart

O Lord how can I keep my ways pure?
Living by Your word!
I seek You with all my heart,
Don't let me stray from Your commands!

Praise be to You, O Lord above,
My teacher and my joy.
My treasure is to walk with You
In the way of Your word.

Meditating upon Your word,
With it hidden in my heart.
And with Your word upon my lips,
I'm helped to live for Christ.

At the beginning of the second section of Psalm 119, having longed for the obedience that comes from the grace of God who saves, the writer of the Psalm asks the obvious question: How can I live like that? The Psalmist finds that answer to living in a way that pleases the God of the word is by storing that very word up in our hearts and relying on His help to live it out. "I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you."
