Oh that my ways were blameless!
Oh that my ways were steadfast
A life without shame, without disgrace
A life obedient and faultless
There'd be praise to Your throne
Glory to Your name
Praise to the LORD of heaven
And every day I would lift my head up high
As one blessed by your grace
Oh that my ways were blameless!
My heart full of love, undivided!
Bowed down before the throne of Jesus
Submitted fully to His Lordship
bridge:
I thank You Lord
For pouring out You grace into my life
and giving me, the righteousness of Christ
now strengthen me
please keep me strong until the day of Christ
so I would be blameless in Your sight.
The second song of the first stanza of Psalm 119. Having seen clearly that the blessing of the LORD is a life of obedience to His commands, the Psalmist reflects on his own life. He sees that while the LORD has indeed blessed him, he longs for more blessing that would result in a greater obedience and more praise to the God who saved him. He longs that he might not be put to shame in this life by walking in disobedience. He longs too that on the day when the Lord Jesus returns he would not be ashamed having strayed from the way of the word of the LORD. No, he will praise Him in this life, and glorify Him on the last day. May our longing be the same!
