alef: Blessed are those whose ways are blameless

Blessed are those whose ways are blameless
Blessed are those who love the LORD
Blessed are those whose ways are blameless
Blessed who walk the way of his Word

You have given commands to be obeyed
Only with the blessing of grace can we obey
LORD you've saved us to walk in Your ways

Blessed are those whose ways are blameless
Blessed are those who love the Son
Blessed are those whose ways are blameless
Blessed who hear and walk His words

Jesus Christ is our LORD to be obeyed
Only with the blessing of grace can we obey
LORD you've saved us to walk in Your ways

Saviour God you're our LORD to be obeyed
Only with the blessing of grace can we obey
LORD you've saved us to walk in Your ways

In obedience to Christ;  the way of your word
(You have saved so I obey)
Loving, serving for Him, making Him known
(He is Lord, Lord of all)
Not just having the words, but living them out
(with my life devoted to Him)
Helped each day by the Spirit filled with His power
(Blessed are those whose ways are blameless)

Oh LORD of grace!
I walk Your ways
The LORD who saved me!
Oh that my ways were blameless...

alef: Blessed are those whose ways are blameless

In the first verses of Psalm 119 we are confronted with the fact that the LORD who saves is a God who gives commands to be obeyed. "Blessed are those whose ways are blameless", blameless not here being sinless perfection, but a heart turned towards walking the ways of the LORD. It's only with the grace of the LORD that we might possibly be able to do this. Obedience is therefore the blessing He gives to those He has saved. As Christian believers, the blessing we are given is a heart and life that lives in submission to the commands of our Lord Jesus who is the LORD.

119

Walking the way of word of the God who saves is the longing and passion of the Christian believer. Yet life is hard, we struggle with sin and there are those who oppose. "119" explores the longest Psalm, Psalm 119, and seeks to help us get its various themes into our heart that our love for the Lord Jesus might grow and we might be more and more faithful to Him.
